WHAT AN EIM SYSTEM DOES

Several electronic components operate as one control network.

Sea Ray used electronic interface modules and dash-mounted touchpads on many Sport Boats and Sport Cruisers produced primarily during the 1999–2008 period. The touchpads send commands to electronic modules that switch lights, pumps, blowers, horns, wipers, and other equipment.

On many larger applications, the original architecture includes two touchpads, two EIM module boxes, and one auxiliary interface module. Smaller applications may use a simpler arrangement. Because the components communicate, a fault in a module can appear to be a touchpad problem.

That interconnected architecture is why FP Marine focuses on replacing the supported system as a whole instead of assuming that the component showing the symptom is the only problem.

FP Marine's dealer brochure describes straightforward routing and plug connections and estimates approximately 2 hours for smaller systems and 5.5 hours for larger systems. Those figures are planning estimates—not promised completion times.

Access, prior modifications, corrosion, added electronics, installer experience, and careful finishing can materially change the time required. Customer reports range from a roughly two-hour small-boat installation to a full day on a larger boat.

Review the instructions and videos first, document the existing installation, label anything that has been modified, and use a qualified marine technician whenever the work exceeds your experience.
