  • ON/OFF/ON configuration, double pole double throw
  • Two lamps, red and green LED lamps. Both the green lamp in position #1, and the red lamp in #2 position are independent.
  • An independent lamp has both a positive and negative terminal as opposed to the standard switches that just have a negative terminal. Independent lamps can be lit independently of the actuator position as opposed to standard "dependent" lamps that get their power internally when the actuator moves to the "on" position.If you wish the lamp to illuminate when the switch is actuated to one of the "ON" positions, you must install a jumper wire from one of the active load terminals to one of the positive terminals for the lamps.
  • 10 terminal; The bottom right and top right terminals are the grounds for the lamps. The bottom left and top left terminals provide the power for the independent lamps. The middle two terminals on the switch are power "in". The other two pairs of terminals are power "out". The two sides of the switch are independent of each other. The switch is "off" when the actuator is in the middle position. There are dozens of ways to wire this complex switch and there are many different applications.
At times these switches are wired differently. The important thing to remember is how the switch operates. When the bottom of the actuator is depressed, the middle two terminals make contact with the top two (switched) terminals (not the very top two that are for the independent lamp). When the top of the actuator is depressed, the middle two terminals make contact with the bottom two terminals (not the very bottom two that are for the independent lamp). As with all double pole switches, the two sides are independent of each other. So the terminals on the left side of the switch never make contact with the terminals on the right side of the switch unless you install an external jumper wire. The VJD2-1 is a true double pole switch, meaning that the two sides of the switch are independent of each other and it really acts like 2 separate switches. These are critical when powering multiple accessories with the single stroke of the switch, example, bilge blowers, when you turn the switch ON it may activate two blowers in the bilge. If one blower fails, shorts out, or backfeeds voltage, you do not want it to affect the other blower as it is a safety concern. Another example is nav lights, you do not want backfeed of voltage which can cause other lights on the circuit to illuminate when they are not supposed to.
